Vision
Rooted in love, we will be a healthy multi-generational and multi-cultural community of Jesus followers committed to leading others to Jesus. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we will disciple new Jesus followers. We will be witnesses in our places of influence, beyond our comfort zones, and to people all over the world who have never heard the good news about Jesus.

Key Scripture
“From [Christ’s] glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT)
Culture
When you explore Sego Lily church community, we pray you encounter the following:
Welcome
We pray you feel welcomed with unconditional love and acceptance. This is a safe place to explore faith, doubts and questions. You are beautiful and created in the image of God. We’re honored to know you wherever you’re at in your faith journey.
Presence
You were created to relate to God. You can expect to experience God’s presence—through love, power and truth encounters in worship, prayer, teaching, service and life together.
Community
Life is beautiful when you have good relationships with others, and they have you too. Gathering together for meals, learning the ways of Jesus, serving others, making disciples, praying for each other and playing together are important rhythms for life in Christ.
Rest
Are you tired? Burned out on religion? Jesus said, “Come to me. Get away with me. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” We are serious about rest–it demonstrates trust in Jesus and cultivates growth.
Wholeness
Here’s a paradox. Jesus accepts us as we are, but his kindness never leaves us as we are. He knocks at the door of your heart. If you let him in, life will be different. When you experience the hope and the love of Jesus, you will be changed.
Service
When we follow Jesus, we are born again into a new family. We become sons and daughters who serve others. Our service is not to impress or meet a demand, but is motivated by a deep gratitude of being created and unconditionally loved by God.
Equipping
Jesus said to “go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life.” In order to equip you for life in Jesus, we provide resources, teaching courses and training in the Jesus way of life.
Distinctives
How do we uniquely contribute to God’s big church?
Worship Style
Worship style is unique from congregation to congregation. Our music time includes a variety of expressions of song, dance, lament, praise, exuberant shouts of joy or sweet times of silence. We like to linger in God’s presence and don’t race through our singing.
Children & Youth
Children and youth are an active part of our community. They join us for singing, giving, and the community building parts of our gatherings. We value seeing and hearing young people and frequently invite them to pray or lead communion. During the message part of our services, they have talks and activities designed especially for them.
Allegiance to Jesus
Allegiance to Jesus over allegiance to cause. God’s kingdom transcends historical, cultural, and geo-political boundaries. We expect to be challenged by one another’s perspectives and worldviews. No matter your social or political view, you are welcome in our pews.
Gifts of the Spirit
Gifts of the Spirit are “given to each of us so we can help each other.” We embrace and practice these gifts in small groups, courses and Sunday gatherings.
A Diversity of Giftings
A diversity of giftings makes for a robust and dynamic church community. When we give our lives to Jesus we become members of a new family where everyone has something to contribute. Expect to see women and men and people with different histories, cultural backgrounds and giftings contributing among us.
Freedom Ministry
Freedom Ministry has changed us. Our lives and our land are full of all sorts of brokenness, hurt, and destructive patterns. Freedom ministry, or deliverance ministry, frees us from generational iniquity, spiritual bondage and idolatry which helps us walk in wholeness.
What We Believe
God
God is the creator of all things and infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is love.
Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is our comforter, counselor and spirit of truth. The baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers us to be bold witnesses of Christ everywhere we go, and the gifts of the Spirit are given so we can help each other.
The Bible
The Bible tells us the authoritative story of God’s love and power in relationship with humanity and creation. It’s “inspired by God and useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.” We interpret the Bible through the life of Jesus Christ (John 5:39-40).
Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are practices to be observed by Jesus followers today. The Lord’s table is open to anyone who sincerely wants to remember and to honor Jesus’s life, death and resurrection.
Satan
Satan and demons are real and war against God and humanity. They seek to hinder the advance of the kingdom of God.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man in one person. By the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit, he was born of the virgin Mary. Through Jesus’s sinless life, compassionate ministry, powerful teachings, death on the cross, resurrected life, and ascension to heaven, God made it very clear: God is present and has done and is doing everything to save us.
People
People are created in the image of God for relationship with God, others and creation. In general, we have a history of deciding to do things our own way without God (the-Garden-of-Eden-and-man-and-woman-and-serpent story on repeat). When this happens, we fail to receive and live in God’s love, and our fears and pride get us in trouble (sin). We need a savior.
Love God and love our neighbor
Love God and love our neighbor are the two most important commandments. Jesus demonstrated this love with his life. Love never fails.
The Great Commission
Jesus gave his followers authority to go everywhere and commissioned them to make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in his name and training them in his way of life. He promised to be with us every step of the way.
